Und eins ganz vorn weg….. es wird keine wissenschaftlichen Analysen geben, also keine Testcharts und Pixelpeeper-Diskusionen. Ich möchte die Reviews ausschließlich aus der Sicht eines Nutzers schreiben. Eines Nutzers der ganz sicher von Micro Four Thirds und Olympus begeistert ist, der aber großen Wert auf seine Unabhängigkeit legt und Mist auch als Mist bezeichnet, wenn es so ist.
To be clear….. there will be no scientific analysis, no test charts, or pixel-peeper discussions. I write my reviews only from a user’s point of view. A user who is certainly enthusiastic about Micro-Four-Thirds and Olympus, but who attaches great importance to his independence and also calls a spade a spade when it is so.
Lange Zeit arbeitete ich mit Kameras der zwei Big Boys und musste mich mit einem riesigen Rucksack abschleppen in dem sich nur die üblichen drei 2.8er und ein Body und ein Blitz und meistens natürlich auch noch ein Stativ befanden. Das hielt ich für ein Naturgesetz, gute Bilder = gute und schwere Objektive und ebensolche Kameras. Dann wurde Anfang 2012 die Micro Four Thirds-Kamera OM-D E-M5 angekündigt. Ich hatte schon vorher ein Auge auf diesem System, es war so radikal anders besonders im Blick darauf, die Technik völlig neu zu denken, also den Spiegel weg zu lassen und es war wirklich so derart kompakt. Aber es hatte eben auch einige offensichtliche Nachteile gegenüber den digitalen Reflexkameras, beispielsweise der bis dahin etwas langsame Autofocus und das Fehlen eines guten Suchers in der Kamera. Und sie E-M5 hatte nun alles und konnte alles besser als all ihre Vorgänger und dann auch abgedichtet und dann noch mit diesem Killerfeature ausgestattet, dem 5-Wege-Stabilisator………
For a long time I have worked with cameras of the two Big Boys and had to tow them with me in a huge backpack in which only contains the usual three 2.8s, a body and a flash and usually, of course, a tripod. This I thought was a natural law for good pictures = good and heavy lenses and the same of cameras. At the beginning of 2012 the Micro-Four-Thirds camera OM-D E-M5 was announced. I had had my eye on this system before, as it was so radically different, especially when it came to the completely different thinking of the technology, casting away the mirror; and it was really so compact! But the early versions of the system also had some obvious disadvantages compared to the digital reflex cameras, for example a somewhat slow autofocus and the lack of a good viewfinder on the camera. Yet the E-M5 “had it all” and improved on everything over all of its predecessors and was even sealed against dust and moisture and then was equipped with this killer feature, the 5-way stabilizer ………
Kurz nach der Ankündigung der E-M5 ging bei mir im Kopf der Plus/Minus- Kosten/Nutzen- Summe aller Eigenschaften- Rechner an. Und ich konnte es drehen, wie ich wollte meine geliebte Canon 5dM2 mit all ihren tollen L-Linsen kam einfach schlecht weg. Dann hatte ich noch vor dem Verkaufsstart die Möglichkeit einen Real Life Abzug von der E-M5 zu sehen, den ich dann neben einen meiner Abzüge der 5dM2 gelegt habe… Lange Rede… Ich besaß dann eine der ersten digitalen OM’s und war damit im Olympus-Boot. Und das führte dann schon nach kurzer Zeit zu weiteren Überraschungen und nach oben gezogenen Mundwinkeln. Die wichtigste war wohl das die Objektive wirklich so kompakt und natürlich leicht sind und dann auch noch verdammt gut, besonders die Festbrennweiten. Mein Rucksack wog nur noch die Hälfte und ich hatte mehr Objektive an Bord als mit der DSLR…. und das schwere Stativ blieb meistens ganz zu Hause, der 5-Wege-Stabi macht es einfach überflüssig………… mehr im nächsten Review-Artikel
Shortly after the announcement of the E-M5 I started weighing in my head the pros and cons, the cost-benefit- sum of all properties calculator. And any way I looked at it, my beloved Canon 5dM2 with all its great L lenses just came out badly. Then before market release I had the possibility to see a real life print from the E-M5, which I then placed next to one of my prints from the 5dM2 … to make a long story short … I promptly owned one of the first digital OM’s and was on the Olympus boat. And that soon led to further surprises that upturned the corners of the mouth. The most important was probably the lenses are really so compact and of course light and then also damn good, especially the fixed focal lengths. My backpack had half the weight with more lenses on board than with the DSLR …. and the heavy tripod mostly stayed at home thanks to the 5-way stability that makes it just superfluous…….. more in the upcoming review article.
